What things should we have in mind at the moment of choosing the perfect watch?

Above all, the first thing that one must contemplate is what kind of use are we going to give to the piece in question.

Do I want that my watch to be a decorative object or do I want it to be an object of frequent use?

In the first case, singularity will be the most important aspect to be considered. I will choose my watch for its peculiarity, by the way it distinguishes among others, most probably making part of a collection.

In the second case, it is necessary to know if the piece is going to be used daily or only from time to time. If the watch in question is going to be our every-day-watch, it is convenient to pick it up keeping in mind the resistance of the materials with which it was manufactured and the comfort when wearing it. It would be convenient to decide for the watches with stainless steel or titanium cases or any similar material, less prone to suffer damages by blows or close contacts that are usual in everyday life. Likewise, we should make up our minds for some self winding or quartz movement.

Otherwise, if we want our watch to be an accessory to be dressed only in certain special occasions, we will be able to pick our watch among those which cases are manufactured with noble materials (gold or platinum) less resistant but more elegant than the first ones. In the same way, it will not matter if the chosen one is a manual winding watch, since it will only be used for a short period, not presenting any risk to forget winding it.
