Marine watch, WWII HAMILTON 22 timer, varnished wood case. Number 6996 engraved on the bezel and the back of the watch. Original dial in very good conditions, Arabic numerals; 48 hours indicator at 12 and subsidiary seconds at six.
Hamilton Watch Co. was the only company capable of meeting the needs through design and production of a marine chronometer with innovation in a period of about 18 months. Hamilton was able to produce this units in numbers to meet U.S. demand during the war, and 11 239 of these timepieces were made during the war. The model 22 is technically one of the greatest achievements in watchmaking. The balance and the spiral mount was a radical change for the design of the clock.
